Linda Nagel smiles outdoors.
Linda Nagel, PhD, is the new head of the Department of Forest Resources.

We are excited to welcome Linda Nagel, PhD, to the Department of Forest Resources as our new department head. More than a new beginning, it’s also a homecoming: Dr. Nagel was a Forest Resources faculty member and director of operations for the Cloquet Forestry Center and the Hubachek Wilderness Research Center from 2013 - 2015. We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with her again.

Dr. Nagel joins us from the S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources at Utah State University, where she was dean and professor. Previously, she served as a faculty member at Colorado State University, where she also was Forest and Rangeland Stewardship department head, and Michigan Technological University, where she taught silviculture for 13 years.

For 15 years, Dr. Nagel also has served as lead Principal Investigator for the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change Network, which brings together practitioners and scientists, including several from the department, to co-develop adaptive forest management practices in the face of climate change across North America.

On top of welcoming Dr. Nagel, the Department of Forest Resources community extends our heartfelt gratitude to Kristen C. Nelson, PhD, for her service and dedication as interim department head for the past three years.
