Call for your Field Sessions reflections, memories, and advice!

September 29, 2023
Two young women with long brown hard and wearing backpacks gaze up at the treetops before them. They are standing in front of a small clearing in the woods on a sunny day in the early fall.

Field Sessions – and the chance to get out of the classroom and into the woods! – can be some of the most impactful student experiences! Were they for you?

Alumni and current students who’ve participated in Field Sessions through the U of M’s Department of Forest Resources (formerly the College of Forestry), we want to hear from you!

Please email Forest Resources Communications Specialist Megan Guerber at guerber@umn.edu with your memories, reflections, and advice by October 20, 2023. She’ll be sharing a collection of them in our next issue of the print newsletter Forest Scene. It’s a chance for us to come together across generations, share stories, and inspire the next generation of students!

So... what did you learn by doing Field Sessions and how has that helped you in your career? How did you grow or change through the experience? What was your favorite or least favorite part? Your funniest memory? What wisdom or practical advice do you have for future students going on Field Sessions? We want to hear it all!

Everyone who contributes will receive a print copy of the Fall 2023 issue of Forest Scene and a special note of thanks from the department.
