The 2022 CFANS Borealis Night of Excellence, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to CFANS and our greater community, honored Trey Feuerhelm (left) with the Student Leadership Award, Ryan Murphy (center) with the Little Red Oil Can Award, and Matt Russell (right) with the Outstanding Club Advisor Award. Nominations were submitted by the department’s Awards Committee, including Dean Current (chair), Mae Davenport, Panmei Jiang  (NRSM student), Peter Reich, Eli Sagor, and Ingrid  Schneider. Marcella Windmuller-Campione isn’t an official committee member, but deserves credit for submitting Matt Russell’s nomination.

"Receiving the Borealis Undergraduate Student Leadership Award is a clear recognition of the hard work I have done to ensure every student has their basic needs met to succeed. My work would never have been possible without the many mentors, friendships, students, and professors that have supported me." — Trey Feurhelm

"It was an unexpected honor to receive the Little Red Oil Can Award. I really appreciate the effort and thought that my colleagues in the Forest Resources Department took to put together the nomination." — Ryan Murphy

"It's incredibly humbling to receive the Outstanding Club Advisor Award. Representing one of the oldest student clubs on campus, it's an honor to work alongside the Forestry Club and celebrate the value of forests with our students." — Matt Russell
