White text over a maroon background reads, "Learn about the Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management (ESPM) major." Below it is a photo of two young women from behind as they look up into a forest canopy. Both are wearing backpacks and have long brown hair.

Are you curious about the Environmental Sciences, Policy, and Management (ESPM) major? Two new videos feature a current student and a recent graduate speaking about its impact. Watch both to learn how this dynamic, interdisciplinary program is preparing the next generation of environmental leaders.

Recent ESPM grads have landed jobs as sustainability specialists, park rangers, environmental engineers, soil scientists, and more.

  • Undergraduate video: Nico Bacigalupo Zappia, '23 BS, Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management, explains how the education in the ESPM program fit his needs and career aspirations.

"The practicality and applicability of these programs represent a future for what education should look like, one that empowers the student and connects them to real-life projects – and has huge expectations in the best way," Zappia says.

  • Recent grad video: Kowsar Mohamed, '18 BS, Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management, explains how the education in the ESPM program taught her to think holistically and prepared her to be the Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Center Economic Inclusion.

ESPM "provided me a unique opportunity to investigate the needs and challenges that people, places, spaces, and policies are all facing," Mohamed says. "We're all interconnected, all of our systems, all of our structures. If you're' working on one level, you have to recognize it's going to impact another. Being a part of the ESPM program set me up for success in that."
