Biography

Matt does research, teaching, and Extension work in the area of forest ecosystem health.

Teaching

I instruct graduate-level courses with students in our College. My instruction in Extension works with private woodland owners and natural resource managers. I love to bring examples to the classroom or workshop that solve real-world problems in forests and natural resources.

Research

I use data to understand how forests change. Specifically, I examine how disturbances change forest conditions, study how indicators can be used to assess forest health, and develop quantitative natural resource management tools.
