Principles and techniques of remote sensing and its applications to mapping and monitoring land/water resources from local to global scales. Forest and natural resource inventory. Forest cover and soil mapping. Land use and global change analysis. Lab provides hands-on experience working with aerial photography and digital imagery using the Imagine image processing software package.
Class Time: 75% Lecture, 25% Laboratory.
Work Load: 20 pages reading per week, 3 exams, 1 special projects, 5 quizzes.
Grade: 60% mid exam, 30% special projects, 10% quizzes. Grading is based on three mid-term exams, one class project, and several in-class quizzes.
Exam Format: The exams are a combination of multiple choice, short answer, and short essay

Prior coursework in GIS and Statistics is recommended.
