Arbor Day is devoted to connecting people with trees and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations. Explore booths of tree seedlings, tree-derived snacks, and SWAG from CFANS departments!
Come watch a tree planting job site in action as students in FNRM4501-5501, Urban Forest Management: Managing Greenspaces for People, learn about tree planting best practices from UMN Landcare! Together, they'll plant 15 trees around the Bell Museum property.
Students were trained in Landcare's standards to measure tree DBH, and this data will be used by UMN Landcare to update their tree inventory and inform future management practices as part of the Tree Campus service learning project.

The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities was honored with a 2023 Tree Campus Higher Education recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to effective urban forest management. The annual UMN Arbor Day celebration has played a big role in achieving this recognition!
The Tree Campus Higher Education program honors colleges and universities for effective campus forest management and engaging staff and students in conservation goals. UMN-Twin Cities achieved the distinction by meeting Tree Campus Higher Education’s five standards, including maintaining a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance, and a student service-learning project. Currently, there are 412 campuses across the United States with this recognition, and UMNTC is one of 2 in Minnesota!
