Agencywide Climate Preparedness in the US Forest Service
For over a decade, the US Forest Service has been integrating climate change considerations
into its programs and planning. Recent initiatives have accelerated the pace and scale of these
efforts. This year, the Forest Service released its agencywide climate adaptation plan, which
highlights the top risks to the agency’s mission and associated actions to reduce those risks. The
Agency will be tracking its progress using the Climate Action Tracker, which will measure
progress in adaptation, carbon stewardship, sustainable operations, and environmental justice.
This presentation will provide an overview of where the agency has been and where it’s heading
in its climate response in the near future.
