We are excited to welcome Professor Dr. Ingrid Schneider into her new role as interim head of the Department of Forest Resources. A proud University of Minnesota alumna (BS Scientific & Technical Communications, MS Forest Resources/Forest Management), Dr. Schneider has been a cornerstone of our faculty since the early 2000s. She brings a wealth of leadership experience, having directed the University’s Tourism Center and, most recently, co-directed the interdisciplinary Environmental Science, Policy & Management (ESPM) undergraduate program.
Dr. Schneider’s diverse expertise bridges the ecological, social and cultural dimensions of modern forestry. Prior to becoming a UMN faculty member, she earned her PhD at Clemson University and served both as an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at Arizona State University.
With her deep roots in our department, proven leadership and passion for our mission, Dr. Schneider is uniquely equipped to guide us through this transition. We look forward to her leadership as we support our students, strengthen partnerships and advance the department's vital research and industry-facing goals.
In addition to naming Dr. Schneider as interim department head, Forest Resources congratulates Associate Professor Dr. Marcella Windmuller-Campione on stepping into the vital two-year role of program leader of curriculum and accreditation. In this position, she will drive the department’s reaccreditation process with the Society of American Foresters (SAF).
Dr. Schneider will serve as interim department head while Dr. Linda Nagel acts as interim dean of the College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) during its search for the next dean. We are grateful to them both for their leadership and dedication to the continuation of our great work.
